“I believe that there is nothing more truly artistic than to love people.” -Vincent Van Gough

Months ago Jana Contreras and I had been dreaming up a gathering where local photographers and videographers could come together and show support to one another in this sometimes isolating business. After lots of planning, our vision came to life. With the help of my husband we custom made this DIY low table specifically for this dinner and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out.

We had the idea to use cactus and succulents as the center piece so that our guests could have a little gift to take home after the dinner! Jana’s husband cooked some amazing Puerto Rican food and we poured some amazing rosé from Three Sticks winery.

Jana and myself have always been big believers in COMMUNITY OVER COMPETITION.
Welcoming these wonderful women to my home turned out to be one of the highlights of my decade long career. How wonderful to be able to gather together, laugh, eat, drink and share in something that is so dear to our hearts: photography.

Aside from planting cute little cactus and succulents, I knew we were going to need some bug protection! So I ordered some citronella votives and used little terra cotta pots as their holders. They also ended up being our source of light when the sun went down and it was so dark out…but you know how women can be! We continued to chat late into the night and these little candles provided us with a little extra light.

Our table décor also included a macramé table runner and cloth napkins from World Market.

Wine glasses from Anthropologie.

Plates and place cards from Hearth + Hand.

This dinner was such a labor of love…and now we have an overwhelming response of more creative women who would love to come to our next dinner! If you’re a Sonoma County photographer or videographer send us an email! We would love to have you at our next event!
